Thought Process:
Creating this piece was an exploration of the powerful, ethereal beauty of the Northern Lights over Iceland. I wanted to capture not just the visual spectacle of the aurora borealis but also the peaceful and awe-inspiring atmosphere that it creates in the Arctic wilderness. The palette knife technique allowed me to experiment with texture, depth, and energy, making each layer of color feel alive and dynamic. The addition of venetian beige provides warmth and contrast, highlighting the icy coolness of the scene while adding an inviting, grounded feel to the artwork.
